PDP delegates feed fat as aspirants ‘lobby, bribe” for votes

Some 3,619 delegates to the national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) currently going on in Port Harcourt,  Rivers State, are feeding fat as presidential aspirants have continued to jostle for the party’s apex ticket.

The 12  presidential aspirants resolute to clinch the ticket meant for only one of them, are allegedly “lobbying and bribing” some delegates to vote them.

A stakeholder in the All Progressives Congress (APC)  who provided accommodation for some PDP delegates in Port Harcourt on Saturday told a Daily Trust correspondent that the delegates were brought in by one of the presidential hopefuls in the PDP.

He said the aspirant paid for their accommodation, feeding, transportation and general welfare just to secure their votes.

When asked to give specific details as to how much was given to each of the delegates, APC stalwart who pleaded anonymity said,  “They are receiving the package based on their political antecedents.

“But the cash is between N200,000 and N500,000 depending on the delegate’s pedigree and relationship with the actors.

“You see, there are some high profile delegates that can even influence the decision of other delegates and even alter the equation. But I can assure you that they are feeding fat.”

Some delegates who spoke with our correspondent however, denied any interest, insisting they were only on ground to vote in line with the provisions of the PDP constitution.
