2019: Tambuwal meets Obasanjo, says Nigeria can still be rescued

A presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Aminu Tambuwal on Wednesday night met with former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, saying Nigeria can still be saved from the avalanche of challenges confronting the nation.

He spoke with journalists shortly after a 30-minute closed door meeting with Obasanjo at his residence inside Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun state.

The Sokoto State Governor said he came to consult the former President over his presidential ambition, describing him as one of the critical leaders in Nigeria.

According to him, Nigeria can be saved if Nigerians witnesses free, fair and credible elections in 2019.

He vowed that the opposition party stands greater chance of winning the 2019 presidential election.

“Nigeria can be saved by the grace of God come February 2019 if we have free,  fair and credible elections and by grace of God we will win that elections.

“We should be able to give every component part of Nigeria that confidence that these are the leaders we can trust. It’s all about trust in leadership.

“And I believe we have the moment and we have the right people that can do it,” he said.

He warned aspirants against do or die affairs, saying Nigerians should be allowed to decide at the polls.

Speaking on youth’s agitation in politics, Tambuwal said they deserve greater participation and more space in Nigeria’s leadership.
