A former member of the House of Representatives and an All Progressives Congress aspirant who was runner up in the 2015 primaries, Honourable Mohammed Isa Ashiru Kudan has emerged flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 general elections.

In a keen contest which was transparently conducted with the media present all through, Ashiru polled 1,330 out of the 2,654 delegates that voted at the primaries election held at the Kaduna international Trade Fair Complex.
New Nigerian observed that the primaries which lasted over 24 hours commenced at about 10am on Sunday September 30, while voting ended around 7:30am on Monday October 1.
Sorting out ballots started at about 8am on Monday and ended around 12:15 pm.
Second position was claimed by Senator representing Kaduna North, Distinguished Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi after garnering 564 votes, while former Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mohammed Sani Sidi finished third with 569 votes.
Declaring Ashiru winner around 1:30pm on Monday, the Chairman of the 2018 Kaduna Gubernatorial Primaries, Philip Aivoji said that the election was free fair and credible.
“We are teaching AOC lesson how to conduct election because they can never get it right like this.
“Through the process I can see that all the governorship aspirants of Kaduna State are people of honour,” he said.
Immediate past Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero failed to shine as he got less than 50 votes, as only 36 were counted in his favour.
Business mogul, Shuaibi Idris Miqati also failed to make an impact, polling only 16 votes.
Number of invalid votes stood at 39.
Sani Sidi before leaving the venue, congratulated Ashiru Kudan, hugging him in the process.
2,547 delegates were accredited out of 2,654, who voted for 10 aspirants.
