NIGER STATE LONG JUMP AND 4×400M ATHLETES REPRESENTED NIGERIA AT THE CONFEDERATION OF AFRICAN ATHLETICS

Niger State Emma Arizea of Long jump and Isah Salihu of 4×400m race had represented Nigeria at the Confederation of African Athletics 2018, held at Asaba the Delta state capital.

The Technical Officer, Niger State Athletics Association, Alhaji Shehu Kagara confirmed that Niger State 4×400 athlete Isah Salihu participated in the race that qualified Nigeria to its final.

The African Senior Athletics Championship in Asaba, Delta State had recorded a milestone of the highest number of participation since the championship began.

The championship in its 21st edition had 800 athletes in attendance the highest in the history of the competition with 46 events and 52 countries in attendance.

Asaba 2018 is the second time Nigeria is hosting the continental championship with Lagos hosting it the first time in 1989, a biennial competition the Championship is organized by the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA). The first edition was hosted in Dakar, Senegal from August 2-5 1979 while South Africa hosted the event in 2016.
