Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello has charged the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to continue to come up with financial and monetary policies that will deepen people-oriented policies and diversification drive of President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
He made the call on Saturday in an interview with newsmen shortly after the civic reception in honour of the newly appointed Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mrs. Aisha Ndanusa-Ahmad in Minna, the Niger State capital.
The Governor who commended the CBN on its programmes such as CBN-Anchor Borrowers and NIRSAL Programmes noted that with the calibre of the people at the helms of affairs at the apex bank, solid monetary and financial policies should be fashioned out for the country’s economic growth and development.
He advised that such policies by the bank should be in line with the agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari which gives adequate attention to diversification of the nation’s mono-economy
and for the rejuvenation of the agricultural and the solid mineral sectors.
“The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) should continue to comes up with financial and monetary policies that will revive and propel our economy in line with the economic diversification agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari. The bank should chunk out policies that will further reposition the agricultural and solid mineral sectors in other to reduce our over dependence on oil and gas,” the governor advised.
Governor Sani Bello on behalf of the people of the state, expressed appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Mrs. Aisha Ndanusa-Ahmad, an indigene of the state and gave assurance of continuous support of the state to federal government laudable policies and programmes.
The Governor urged the CBN Deputy Governor to be a good ambassador of the state.
Earlier, the Minister of State, Solid Mineral, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa Bwari, who expressed optimism for a better economy, also urged the apex bank to fashioned out policies that will get the country out of the economic woods.
“Today we are experiencing a cloudy economy, the onus is on the the CBN to come up with policies that will get us out of the woods. I believe the cloud will soon be cleared and the Sun shall shine over our land again,” the minister stated.
Mrs. Aisha Ndanusa-Ahmad, Deputy Governor, Directorate of Financial System Stability was recently appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari. She hails from Bida in Niger State.
