Gov. Abubakar Sani Bello has stepped in to end the lingering face-off between Shiroro youths and the management of AEDC. I could be recalled that Kuta the headquarters of Shiroro LG and other neighbouring towns were thrown into darkness for the past two months as a result of issues relating to light billing. Consequently, the youths staged a protest and AEDC on the other hand insisted that the backlog incurred must be settled before light is restored.
However, the governor and other stakeholders have now stepped in to save the day. Gov. Abubakar Sani Bello in this regard gave the sum Five Million Naira (N5, 000 000) to subset the bill. Other stakeholders who made donations includes; Sen. David Umaru with Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200 000), and Commissioner of Youth, Hon. Samaila Ibrahim with One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N150 000). The commissioner also gave additional N50 000 to facilitate house numbering as suggested by both parties.
Light has soon been restored in Kuta and the other affected areas. It is our fervent hope that this timely invention has put to an end all squabbles between Shiroro LGA and AEDC.
Long live Shiroro LG
