Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello commended members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state for conducting a peaceful and rancor free ward congress.
The Governor gave this commendation after an on-the-spot assessment of the congress in some wards of Chanchaga and Bosso Local government areas of the state in company of the Chairman of the party’s Ward and Local Government Congress committee, Chief Ray Murphy and Niger state APC Chairman, Engr Jibrin Imam.
The Governor maintained that the peaceful conduct of the congress in the state has further strengthened and deepened internal party democracy of the ruling APC.
“From the areas visited we have seen that the congress is going on peacefully and we are getting the same reports from virtually all the wards within the state. It has been very smooth, we finished in less than two hours which tells everything went well.”
Shedding light on the congress, the governor said that the party after wider consultations with critical stakeholders agreed on the use of affirmation but added that where party members failed to reach a consensus, election option was to be used.
Governor Sani Bello who said that his administration is operating a true democratic system said it has allowed internal democracy to take place during the exercise.
He also commended the party’s Ward and Local Government Congress committee put in place by the National Secretariat of the party for the peaceful conduct of the congress.
Earlier the Chairman of the committee, Chief Ray Murphy expressed satisfaction in the process adopted by party members at various wards in the state. He also gave kudos to party members for conducting a peaceful ward congress.
The committee chairman then called on party members as well as all Nigerlites to support the administration of Governor Sani Bello in order for derive maximum benefits from the laudable programmes and policies of the APC led administration in the state.
Meanwhile, the state APC chairman, Engr. Jibrin Imam disclosed that the affirmation did not come with ease also said would further strengthen the parties existing structures as well as strengthen the party.
