I HAVE NO PLANS TO SACK TEACHERS – GOV. ABU SANI

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State had directed the screening of the state teachers in other to authenticate their qualification status; he said this during his official visit to the Niger State Teacher Professional Development Institute training center at Mararraban Dandaudu, Munya Local Government.

The Governor during his tour of the center stated that people practice teaching without the prescribe qualification using fake certificate, he said though his teacher’s policy will not be exact like the Kaduna approach were teachers are sacked, the Governor said his approach will be different were teachers will be screen, train and upgraded.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello stressed that Education zonal Inspectorates will be armed and reinforce to carry out their assignment and mandated that the inspectorate offices across the state should start taking inventory on inspecting teachers that are found wanting.

When inspecting the classes of the training center the Governor asked the institute to partner with science equipment agency in Minna for the provisions of science materials which he said they have the capacity, he requested for the comprehensive list of the entire personnel’s of the institute and the implementation committee in term of cost implication of enumeration and entitlement, the Governor said this will enable him plan.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello reiterated that the other two centers in zone A and zone C will soon come on board, during his inspection of the dining and kitchen of the training center the Governor affirmed that we all beneficiaries and products of a public school and charged that teaching must be reinvigorated into it past glory, he stated that the system is now corrupt and the profession had become a dumping ground that need to be corrected by starting afresh.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello added that his administration will do everything possible to support the state teachers through capacity building from the institute and ascertained that the prestige of teaching must be brought back to live, the Governor stressed that other states bringing their teachers for upgrade will have to pay to generate revenue for Niger state.

The Governor promised to beefed up security around the Mararraban Dandaudu and Sarkin Pawa highway so as to safeguard the facility and the students, he said the center was a convergence of Niger state with pupils coming from all nook and cranny of the 274 wards of the state which he said need to be secured.

During the Governor’s tour to the institute’s Headquarter at old ERC, he stated that the institute had a high taste of quality that should not be compromised and directed that the institute should carry out the overhauling of the old ERC and share the facility with Niger state Book Agency. The Governor finally again directed for the landscaping of the old ERC for healthy environment.
