The Wife of the Governor, Dr (Mrs) Amina Abubakar Bello has reassured that henceforth it will be a tough time for the perpetrators of Gender Based Violence in Niger State.
Speaking, during a Radio Programme in Badeggi F.M recently, Dr (Mrs) Amina expressed dismay over increasing cases of Rapes, assault and other forms of violence perpetuated against women and children nationwide.
According to her, the passing of Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) law to deal with Gender Based Violence Perpetrators awaiting gazette in the state automatically empowered the Committee on Gender Based Violence to work assiduously to stem the tide in the state.
She noted that strategies for the implementation of the law will be vigorously perused through Management Committee alongside, with relevant Agencies and Stakeholders in the Management Committee.
The wife of the Governor, Dr (Mrs) Amina Bello traced the ever increasing cases of GBV to include attitudinal behavior of the society, lack of proper care, support to the victims and survivals among others.
She used the forum to call on the survivors that, a referral centre has been put in place for the treatment of the survivors at Police Clinic in Minna and soon in all General Hospitals while efforts are been intensified for other Centres in the State to address the menace.
