Preparation.

Report on the participation of Niger State in the 10th National Council on Lands Housing and Urban development, holding at Marriot Hotel Joel Ogunaike Street, Lagos, Lagos State, from 18th to 22th October 2021.

The State Government is ably represented by Niger State Ministry of Lands and Housing with a Twelve (12) official delegations, comprising of the Honourable Commissioner Barr. Moukhtar Ibrahim Nasale, Permanent Secretary Dr TPL. Abdul Husaini Npom, General Manager Niger State Geographic information System ESV. Ibrahim Musa Jemaku, General Manager Niger State Urban Development Board TPL. Baba Mohammed N., General Manager Niger State Housing Corporation ESV Ahmed, Director Town Planning TPL Danbaba Umar Idris Erena, Director Lands ESV. Adamu Mustapha, Surveyor General Niger State Surv. Aliyu Aina, Director Administration Paul Lawrence, Director Finance Musa Yahayah, and Director Planning Research and Statistics Alhaji Yaba Baba Yahaya.

Niger State Government, has forwarded for consideration four (4) Memos on,
(1)Efforts towards facilitating and Creating enabling Environment for provision of affordable housing in the State.(2)Minna Urban Regeration through Acupuncture (MURTA) project at Kpakungu Minna. (3) Status of Niger UN- HABITAT Collaboration in the preparation of Niger State Urban Policy and integrated Development plans. (4) Approval of Niger state Excutive Council to Upgrade Survey department of the Ministry to Extraministarial status, as an agency of Governments that is overseeing the Surveying Mapping and Geoinformatics needs of the State.

The State is also expected to strengthen collaborations with Federal Government in actualization of unslumming some parts of Minna most especially Kpakungu through Minna urban regenerate and transformation Acupuncture (MURTA), and also seek further collaborations in FCT and it’s neigbouring satilite towns Development Commission initiative, Suleja inclusive.

It should be noted that, the Nigeria National Council on Lands housing and urban development is the highest decision and policy making body in the Federation, with the power to proffer executive policies and advise to the three (3) tier of Governments. The 2021 session is the 10th edition in Nigeria.
