GovernorAbubakar Sani Bello Niger state has reaffirm it commitment of having in place a framework for state-specific disaster mitigation strategy, targeted to enforce sustainable and functional framework for disaster reduction template to enable the state of it preparedness.

The Governor disclosed this through his Deputy Ahmed Mohammed Ketso at the commissioning and handing over of reinforced concrete drains and land reclaimination works done by the ecological fund office in kwamba Suleja local government.

He added that the state government has also embarked on Advocacy and awareness creation to reduce the impact of flooding in the state and the use of land responsively.

The Governor however appreciated various federal government agencies for their support towards mitigating the perennial flooding and other environmental challenges.

In their seperate remarks , the permanent Secretary ecological fund Dr. Habiba Lawal and members presenting Agaie and lapai federal constituency. Hon Abdullahi Mamudu stated that the commissioning and handing over of the project to the community is expected to achieve the dual purpose of enabling the host community to take over and exercise ownership over the project ,to ensure its maintenance and sustainability.

Highlight of the event was the commissioning and handing over of the project by the hon member, supported by the deputy governor and the Suleija Local government Chairman Abdullahi Maje . Top government funtionaries that accompanied the deputy governor include Commissioner Ministry of Environment Mohammed Zakari Tanko, Commissioner of Information Mohammed Sani Idris, Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Affairs Mohammed Zakari Tanko, Coordinator Youth Mobilisation and Empowerement Talban Samari and others..
