Although the 2023 General Elections is over Two years away, the Battle for the Soul of Niger State Government House in recent time has intensified as Political Bigwigs interested in taking over from the incumbent Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello have begun politicking ahead of the forthcoming Gubernatorial Election. These Governorship Hopefuls include:

1. Hon. Umar Bago (APC)

Bago, 46 hails from Minna, the Niger State Capital. He is a Third-term Lawmaker representing Chanchaga Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. The Banker turned Politician contested for the Speakership Seat of the House of Representatives in June 2019, but emerged as Runner-up behind Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila who eventually won the election.

2. Hon. Umar Nasko (PDP)

Nasko, 45 is the First Son of a Former Military Governor of Sokoto State, Major General Gado Nasko. The 2019 PDP Governorship Candidate in Nigeria State is a Successful Administrator having held various positions in the State, he served as Commissioner in Four Different Ministries namely, Ministry of Environment; Youth Development; Tourism and Culture; Transportation. Nasko also served as Chief of Staff during the Second-term tenure of Former Governor, Babangida Aliyu (2011 – 2015).

3. Hon. Lado Suleja (APC)

Lado, 47 hails from Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State. He is the Member representing Suleja/Tafa/Gurara Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He was elected into the National Assembly in 2015. Prior to his Election, Lado represented Suleja State Constituency in the Niger State House of Assembly.

4. Alhaji Muhammad Sani Kutigi (PDP)

Kutigi, 47 is One of the Sons of Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi, a Former Chief Justice of Nigeria (Now Late). The younger Kutigi represented Lavun/Mokwa/Edati Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between 2011 and 2015. He is also a Former Chairman of Niger State Flickers Hockey Club.

5. Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi (APC)

6. Alhaji Isah Liman Kantigi (PDP)

Kantigi, a Successful Businessman and Politician was the 2015 Deputy Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Niger State. He was a One-time Chairman of Edati Local Government Council and a Former Commissioner in the State.

7. Engineer Sani Ndanusa (APC)

Ndanusa, 63 is a Former Minister of Youths, Sports and Socal Development, a position he occupied from December 2008 to March 2010. The trained Civil Engineer was the General Manager of Niger State Water Board between 1999 and 2001 before his appointment as Commissioner for Transportation and Infrastructural Development under the Administration of the Late Abdullahi Kure.
