NDE Gives Jobs To 750 Unemployed Persons In Niger


The National Directorate of Employment, (NDE) on Tuesday opened up another vista for employment and job creation for some 750 unemployed persons in Niger State as part of the directorate’s continuous efforts at adressing unemployment, create empowerment and job creation in the country.
Director General of the NDE, Dr. Nasiru Mohammed Ladan Arugungu said at the orientation ceremony held for the participants of the new scheme in Minna, the Niger state capital that the programme was for selected persons in the 774 councils across the country as part of federal government’s conscious efforts at tackling unemployment.
He assured that the NDE would continue to use the country’s informal sector to explore job opportunities and for skills acquisition training to reduce unemployment problems.
Represented at the occasion by the NDE’s Director of Vocational Skills Department, Agnes Ogbaga at the occasion, Dr. Ladan Arugungu noted that the country’s economic landscape has virile potentials that could spur huge economic growth and development if harnessed properly.
He charged the beneficiaries to be resilient in their determination to defeat unemployment, poverty and redundancy.
Coordinator of the NDE in Niger state, Abdulmalik Liman Abubakar noted that the directorate had covered lots of grounds in redressing unemployment.
He said the directorate has continued to create job and empowerment opportunities for the teaming unemployed class to close up the unemployment space in the country.
The state Coordinator of the NDE was represented by a senior personnel of the directorate, Helen Abu at the occasion.
She explained that within a space of two and half years, the NDE in the state has mopped up hundreds from the labour markets especially women and young persons who have been engaged on skills acquisition programmes for job creation schemes.
Helen Abu reiterated the determination of the directorate to create job opportunities and to reduce unemployment, poverty and idleness for economic growth.
Permanent Secretary in Niger state Ministry of Youth Development, Jummai Idris commended the state office of the NDE for it’s poverty alleviation and job creation programmes for the unemployed across the state.
Jummai Idris reaffirmed the state government’s readiness to continue to partner the directorate in reducing unemployment and create empowerment for its teaming unemployed persons.
She noted that through the directorate’s several schemes, several hundreds of unemployed persons have been engaged into viable empowerment programmes and projects.
Some of the beneficiaries of the scheme expressed gratitude to the NDE and its Niger state Coordinator for their support in creating job opportunities, skills acquisition for empowerment.
