Niger State House of Assembly has reiterated its desire and commitment to partner with relevant Stakeholders in the State, to ensure the development of the Local Government Administration in the State, to achieve good governance.
This was disclosed by the Speaker of the House Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Bawa Wuse, when he received the officials of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE) in the State, who paid a courtesy visit to the Leadership of the House at the Assembly Complex in Minna.
The Speaker further explained that the third tiers of government in the State should restore the past glory of the founding fathers of the Administration of Local Government with its attendants glory and developmental strides associated with that level of Government.
The Speaker also admonished the NULGE officials and its members to continue to support the State Government drive to eliminate ghost workers and other vices with a view to ensure that funds for development are used judiciously for such purposes and call for sincerity of purpose.
The Speaker also assured that Local Government Pensioners will continue to receive adequate attention of the relevant authorities through the payment of their benefits as and when due and expressed the gratitude of the 9th Legislature to the NULGE officials for maintaining industrial peace/harmony and urged them to continue with their good work.
In his earlier remark, the NULGE State President Comrade Idrees Abdulkareem Lafene, commended the State Government giant strides in the development of Local Government and implementation of people centered programs.
The President of NULEGE in the State also commended the payment of 7.5% and payment of pension benefits to its members
The NULGE officials then appealed to the Leadership of the State Legislature to intervene in their effort to ensure that the Membership of the members of the State Local Government Service Commission be increase from two to three from the Union.
In another development, the Speaker has also assured the officials of National Association of Education Secretaries in the State, that the 9th Legislature with support genuine efforts to improve the Socio- economic development of the at all levels.
The Speaker assured the Education Secretaries officials that the Legislature and the Executive will partner to ensure that our rural areas are made attractive for Teacher through the introduction of some incentives and to further consolidate on the records achieved by the present Administration.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Forum of Education Secretaries in the State Comrade Kpetu Ahmed Bosso, express gratitude to the State Government initiative to provide logistics support to the members to help them perform their mandate.
He also express appreciation to the State Government for embarking on major renovation of Primary School in the three senatorial zones in the State.
The Chairman of the Forum further solicited for the approval of special allowances and vehicle loan to teachers in rural areas so as to reduce rural/urban drift of manpower in the teaching profession.
In conclusion the Chairman of the Forum of Education Secretaries in the State then assured the leadership and members of the 9th Assembly that the forum will partner with relevant stakeholders to transform the educational sector at the grassroot level with a view to achieve the vision and mission of the present administration in the State.
