Niger State Independent Electoral Commission INEC had deployed additional 270 security personnel in to the existing nine thousand five hundred (9,500) already engaged, Professor Sam Egwu also confirmed the deployment of eighteen thousand eight hundred and seventy five (18,875) ad-hoc personnel’s across the twenty five local governments of the state.
Professor Sam Egwu stated that there is reduction in the number of collation officers from two (2) to one per ward, he said thirty one(31) political parties will participate in the Gubernatorial election while twenty seven parties will partake in the State Assembly election.
The Resident Commissioner confirmed that three hundred and seventy one (371) candidates had filled for state assembly seat in the state, Professor Sam Egwu also confirmed the presence of media, foreign and domestic observers in Niger state.
He finally affirmed the movement of sensitive materials from the vault of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN to all the local governments area of the state, the REC said adequate preparation and arrangements had been put in place for a smooth and peaceful election on the 9th of March 2019.
