Remains of some of the 14 soldiers killed during an ambush by Boko Haram members along the Damaturu-Maiduguri Highway, during their burial at the Commonwealth Military Cemetery in Kaduna yesterday.
An officer and 13 soldiers killed along Damaturu/Maiduguri road while on national duty on 24 December, 2018 were yesterday buried at the Commonwealth Cemetery, in
Kaduna. The troops, said to be from 1 Division, were going back to their base in Kaduna after taking supplies to soldiers in Maiduguri, when they were ambushed and killed by insurgents.
Mohammed urged gallant troops not to relent in their efforts to ensure that they get rid of kidnappers, bandits, and other criminal elements. “I want to assure you of the unwavering support of the Chief of Army Staff and the leadership of our dear nation in ensuring that you are provided with necessary equipment, as well as adequate welfare to carry out your duty effectively and efficiently,” he said.
