Kaduna streets were busy on Monday morning as members of the All Progressives Congress from the 8 Local Governments of Kaduna Central thronged the city for the inauguration of over 3,000-member campaign team and 25 Directorates.
The Conference Hall of Bafra International Hotel was almost overstretched to capacity with APC leaders, supporters and stakeholders.
Second Republic political heavyweight, Alhaji Kabir Umar and chieftain of the APC Alhaji Usaini Jalo and elders like General Sani Saleh as well as key stakeholders like Alhaji Usman, Sardaunan Badarawa harped on the need for mass mobilization of votes in favor of the APC.
The speakers at the event, notably Kaduna State Deputy Chairman and Secretary of the APC also took turns to appraise the state of the APC ahead of the 2019 elections, the renewed effort at reconciliation and the need to give flagbearer Uba Sani all the support he needs to win the election.
The speakers also expressed optimism that both President Muhammad Buhari and Governor Nasir Elrufai will spring surprises in the 2019 general elections.
The APC flagbearer for the Zone, Malam Uba Sani expressed gratitude to the the newly a inaugurated Campaign Council leaders for putting together a formidable structure to support his senatorial bid. He also charged them to remain resilient, be creative by taking legitimate strategic steps to attain victory in the 2019 elections.
One of the women leaders at the event, Hajiya Tabawa described the inauguration of the 3,198-member campaign council and 25 Directorates as one of the major political carnivals in the history of Kaduna Central for decades. She urged women, whom she described as “the most reliable segment of voters”, to give the Kaduna Central APC candidate their “best shot at the polling unit” to “further assert the electoral value of mothers, sisters and daughters in today’s Nigeria”.
While speaking to newsmen shortly after the event, the Director-General of the newly-inaugurated Campaign Council, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba Abbas, described the inauguration as a turning point in the history of the APC in State and urged all supporters and stakeholders to “redouble their efforts in canvassing for votes, for Malam Uba Sani”.
The event ended with series of entertainment shows, mainly songs projecting the selling points of Malam Uba Sani as the party’s flagbearer, while pro-Buhari and Elrufai chants occasionally rented the air.
