The aspirant for the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Umar Tsauri said the party would be rebranded and modified in order to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019 general election.
Tsauri who was in Sokoto to meet with the party delegates from Sokoto and Kebbi state ahead of the party’s December 9 national convention was optimistic that PDP would bounce back to power in 2019.
He said what the party needed was modification and rebranding in order to wrest power from the ruling party.
Tsauri assured PDP members of his best towards the success of the party if elected as national secretary.
Also speaking, the Katsina State Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Salisu Yusuf said Nigerians were clamouring for the return of PDP due to the failure of APC government.
He said that the party was well prepared for the convention and that all the candidates had agreed to accept the outcome of the convention in good faith.
Yusuf however, faulted the stand of the PDP northern elders forum that the chairman of the party should come from the South-West which he said negates the principle of true democracy.
On the chances of Senator Tsauri, he said it was the turn of Katsina to produce the next National secretary of the party because Kaduna had produced the former organizing secretary and care taker chairman of the party.
However, delegates from the two states had unanimously adopted Senator Tsauri as their candidate for the secretary position.
