STUDENT’s ACTIVITIES HAD BEGUN AT MARARRABAN DANDAUDU

Student’s activities had begun at Niger State Teacher Professional Development Institute Training Centre at Mararraban Dandaudu, Munya Local Government Area. The students of about 274 male and female in number have already occupied the training facility in preparation for the start of academic program by Monday 23rd of October 2017.

The Training center which was opened on the 14th of October 2017 saw the resumption of students for full takeoff of academic program in the facility, already tutors were undergoing rigorous induction course at the institute headquarters at old ERC. The training facility was confirmed to be the first of its kind after the phase out of teachers colleges in the 90’s; the Teachers Registration Council (TRC) had approved the facility to served as a model and case study in the country, already Education stakeholders from around Nigeria that is Bauchi State delegation from North East had paid visit to the facility to understudy the model.

The National Education research Council (NERC) had endorsed the facility as one of its kind towards upgrade of teacher’s quality in term of input and output, International Development Partners that is United Kingdom Agency for International Development UKAID and Reading and Numeracy Activity RANA have supported the activities of the Niger state Teacher Institute in term of capacity building and pedagogy learning materials.

Also the State’s Universal Basic Education have played a critical role and cooperated to provide synergy in term of students selection process and tutors recruitment exercise. The traditional institutions were not left behind as they provide the institute with community approach and strategy in other to have the support of the host communities.

The Administration of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello’s roadmap for Education restoration is yielding fruit within a lifespan of two years which saw the emergence of the teachers training center in the three senatorial zones of the state for the improvement and upgrade of quality teachers in Niger State.

The Chairperson, Institute’s Implementation Committee, Hajiya Dije Jibrin Bala, MFR, mni, have reiterated the committee’s resolved to execute one of the best modern teachers training facility in Nigeria that will last the test of time, she however stated that the task ahead is turf and painstaking towards actualizing Governor Abubakar Sani Bello’s vision for education rejuvenation in the state.
