Niger State Governor has saluted and congratulated the staff, students and management of Maryam Babangida Science College, Minna as they celebrated 50 years of academic excellence, 1967 to 2017.
Speaking at the 50th Golden Jubilee Anniversary Ceremony held at the school’s college mini sport field on Saturday, the representative of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, the Niger State Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development, Alhaji Mamman Musa Bosso disclosed that, Governor Sani Bello is proud to be associated with the school and her numerous successful products into various endeavours.
He spoke further by charging the present students to emulate the old students with a view to maintaining high moral standards and ethics which has been the watch dog of the school.
In her goodwill message, the Niger State Honourable Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Hajiya Fatima Madugu, who was a principal as well a bonified product of the school described the occasion a momentous one adding that ” this is just the beginning of good days for the education sector via the policy initiative of Mr. Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello tagged “WHOLE SOME SCHOOLS DEVELOPMENT APPROACH”, a total redemption strategy towards educational excellence.
In her speech, the Principal of the school, Hajiya Aishatu Aliyu disclosed that, over and beyond chronological advancement, Maryam Babangida Science College, Minna has never in its 50 years of existence, experienced the focus and attention of the State Government as it has under the pro-development leadership of Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello which she described as a holistic recreation and modernization of an aging educational facility.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Professor Farouk Rasheed Haruna, Provost College of Education and VC Niger University of Education, Minna called on the staff and management including the students to ensure that they maintain, manage and utilise the advantage of the enabling environment created by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello.
He added that, academic excellence cannot be successful without an enabling environment which he said, the Niger State Government has given wholeheartedly, a situation he described as a “1st class upliftment”.
Speaking, a student of the school who gave her name as Maryam Ibrahim thanked the State Government for giving life back to an almost dead environment adding that, she now is indeed proud of the college, her teachers particularly her Principal. “It is indeed an incredible gathering and the presence of our old students, now mothers has really motivated me and many others to remain focused and committed to achieve our academic goal for a better tommorow”.
