Thank you all for your comments.. Like I said in my earlier clarification, the comments are all noted in good faith and with sincere appreciation. I believe all of us are working towards the same goal: to make Niger State truly prosperous for the benefit of all citizens. However, a few points need to be further clarified as follows: 1. School of Nursing, Kontagora was started before this administration and all the structures present at the site were erected by the people of the zone through various community initiatives. The question of sectional interest thus does not arise here .. one can only commend the people of the zone for supporting successive governments to achieve equity in the spread of health training schools. 2. Mr. Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello is only stepping in to complete the process because of his promise to complete all inherited projects that will touch the lives of the people. 3. The present administration is not neglecting other existing nursing/midwifery schools in Bida and Minna as done by previous administrations. We inherited the school having leadership crisis and we apoointed an acting provost who has brought stability to the school and in addition the state Government set up a high powered committee last year to identify the requirements for their full accreditation and this has been done. 4. Based on the committee’s report (submitted in December last year), a lot needs to be done to add to the ongoing renovation works at the School of Nursing Bida of the class rooms, conference hall, etc.. under the new acting Provost. All these are in preparation for the accreditation visit to the school in May, 2017. 5. I, together with the top management of the Ministry of Health, undertook fact finding tours of the schools in Bida and Minna mid-2016. During these visits, we had extensive engagement with the management, staff and students as well as with key stakeholders, including His Royal Highness, Etsu Nupe, Alhaji. Yahaya Abubakar CFR. The idea of the visits was to intimate all stakeholders of government’s intentions and plans for these schools as already explained. 6. Lastly, I want to sincerely appreciate everybody for the comments, but we must always remember that the neglect of so many years cannot be repaired within a short period. Moreover, we must admit that the current economic downturn imposes serious limitations on how far and fast government can move, but with patience, perseverance and collective determination we shall surely reach our desired destination. Thank you and God bless.
